Aldis Ray Spence
A. R. Spence was born on June 26, 1934 in Lee County, Texas, he was the son of Cecil and Doyc (Wilhite) Spence.
Mr. Spence grew up in Lexington and was a 1952 graduate of the Lexington High School. After high school he moved to Pasadena where he lived for most of his adult life. He was a Union Boilermaker with the Boilermakers Union # 74 in Houston for 31 years. After he retired in 1996 he moved to McDade where he was a farmer until his death.
He and Edna Bridges Harrison were married on May 26, 1998. He loved the outdoor and enjoyed Deer hunting.
After a long & courageous battle with cancer, A.R. passed away on the 26th day February 2010 reaching the age of 76 years and 8 months and went home to be with his Lord & Savior.
Mr. Spence is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sons; Larry D. Spence of Webster and Alan Ray Spence & wife Ethel of Lexington, daughter; Paula Spence Jaynes & husband Larry of LaPort, brothers; Alton Joe Spence & wife Ester of Houston and Cecil Barkley Spence of Trinity, sister; Bobby Jane Jones of Boston. He is also survived by his granddaughter Staci Retzlaff & husband Adam of Lexington, his great-granddaughter Kylee Ann Retzlaff of Lexington, also 2 stepsons and 6 step-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the Hugh Wilson Cemetery on CR 415 in Tanglewood with Rev. Gary McManus officiating.
