The First Annual Varmint Tournament in Lexington Texas hosted by Nocks Bow Repair was a great success. We had twenty-three teams sign-up on Saturday January 30th. The first place winners, Team Coyote Dusters out of Bryan, won $1,380. The second place winners, Team Smith out of Lexington, won $690. The third place winners, Team Nuts & Furs, out of Giddings/Ledbetter area, won $230.

We had four side pots. Team Crit’r Git’rs out of Lexington won $100 in the Heaviest Bobcat category. Team Nuts & Furs out of Giddings/Ledbetter won $95 in the Heaviest Coyote category. Team Smith out of Lexington won $95 in the Heaviest Fox category. Team Three Stooges out of the Giddings/ Lexington area won $90 in the Mangiest Coyote category. The Mangiest Coyote category was decided by the crowd. The judges picked out the ones they thought were mangy and the crowd had the final say.

This year we were able to give away two guns and fourteen smaller prizes. Bryan Tracy out of Lexington won a Stevens 223 Riffle. Ronnie Stone out of Pflugerville won a Marlin 243 Riffle.

We wanted to thank everyone who came out. We wouldn’t have been as successful without you. We would like to thank our sponsors; we wouldn’t have been able to give out as many prizes without their support. We would like to give a special thanks to our judges and secretaries, Bill Woodward, Greg Pleasant, Johnny Speier, Candice Walch, and Heather Ramsey.
