Sharon Jones, 64 of Gause passed away Friday morning, February 19, 2010 in the Scott & White Hospital in Temple.
Sharon was born November 18, 1945 in Buckholts to James Luther and Iris (Flippin) McCarty.
On November 17, 1961, she and Carrol Wayne Jones were married in Pasadena, Texas. To this union three children were born. They came to live in Gause the past 35 years.
Sharon was a homemaker, baker and an avid volunteer. She was a member of Gause Baptist Church, a charter member and current Vice President of the Gause Volunteer Fire Department and had received her 30 year pin in December. Member of the Fire Chiefs Association in Cameron and 60 year member of Deanville Sons of Herman Lodge. Sharon won many first place awards for cakes she baked, she was an avid fundraiser. She was involved in bringing the 911 system to Gause and established fundraiser calendears to the Brazos Valley area.
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Carrol Wayne on December 23, 2007, as well as son, Carrol William Jones, daughter, Rhonda Lynn Lagrone and grandson, Dennis Wayne Lagrone.
Survivors include their son, Bennie Wayne Jones and wife Tammy of Deanville. Three grandchildren, Casey Lynn Jones of Bryan, Bennie Wayne Jones, Jr. of Deanville and Keith Ryan Lagrone of Bryan. Brother, David Evans and wife Martha of Gause. Five sisters, Gwen Johnson and husband Don of Clute, Gloria Ashley of West Columbia, Nancy Hobbin and husband James of Clute, Gladna Helton and husband Pat of West Columbia and Charlotte McCarty of Houston. Brother and sisters-in-law, W.F. Buck Jones and wife Helen of Rockdale, Betty Wadlington and husband Bennie of Ben Arnold and Geneva Gandy of Gause.
Funeral services were Monday, February 22, 2010 in the Gause Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Sanders officiating. Burial was in the Gause Cemetery.
