Mary Espinosa

July 22, 1921 - February 20, 2010

Mary Hernandez Espinosa was born on July 22, 1921 near Brushy south of Thorndale, Texas. She was one of fifteen children born to the union of Rafael Hernandez and Belen Negrete Hernandez. Mary attended school and worked in the fields as a migrant worker. She married Antonio “Tony” Espinosa on August 24, 1943 in Buckholts, Texas. She continued to work as a migrant worker after her marriage and starting their family. She later worked in the Forbes Grocery in Thorndale and finally retired after years as a seamstress at the Taylor Bedding Company in Taylor.

Mary passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2010 in the Cedar View Rehab and Healthcare in Austin having reached the age of 88 Years, 6 Months, and 29 days. She was preceded in death by her husband Tony on December 11, 1997; her parents; sisters, Frances Torres, Minnie Hernandez, and Aurora Morin; and brothers, Fransico, Jesus, Alfredo, Ralph, Everardo, Jose, and Abilino Hernandez Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Taylor at 10:00A.M. with Rev. Efrain Villanueva officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Taylor. Visitation was held Tuesday at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. A rosary was recited at

Survivors include; Sons,Robert Espinosa of Thorndale, Alfredo Espinosa of Austin, James Anthony Espinosa of Ft. Worth, and Johnny Edward Espinosa of Houston; Daughters, Gloria Ann Vasquez of Austin, Angelina Hewes and husband Paul David of Austin, Mary Ellen Rivera and husband Maximo of Hutto, Irene Mooneyhan and husband Charles R. of Round Rock, Estella Espinosa and husband Michael Graves of Houston, and Josefina Espinosa Salumunek and husband Fred of Humble; 17 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren; Brothers, Salvador Hernandez of Uvalde and Mike Hernandez of Garland; sisters, Anselma Castro of Bellvadeere, Ill. and Helen Ausburn of Thorndale.
