Leona Dickerson Jones
Leona D. Jones, 83 of Spring, Texas passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at her home in the Woodlands. Lee was born in Thrall, Texas, to Richard and Maude Dickerson. She grew up in Giddings, Texas and attended Mary Hardin Baylor. She was married to Thomas W. Jones for 60 years until his death, and together they raised a large family. Lee was a devoted mother and considered raising her family of 5 her greatest accomplishment. She was preceded in death by her sister, Margie Hill, and is survived by her sister, LaVerne Dunaway of Buffalo, Texas, her 5 children, 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Lee loved music; enjoyed singing in the choir in the Baptist church; and was a real sports enthusiast. She was a fierce competitor – enjoying tennis until she was in her early 70s and bingo and bridge at The Forum with friends. She loved God and her family and cherished the times they shared together.
She has a lasting legacy in the lives of her children: Ann Livesay of Spring, Texas, Tom Jones of Carrollton, Texas, Bruce Jones of Richmond, Texas, Susan Burchfield of Naperville, Illinois and Dwight Jones of Dallas, Texas; and her grandchildren: Reed Livesay, Laura Crutsinger, Stephen Livesay, Chris Jones, Cassie Jones, Clarke Jones, Russell Jones, Emily Burchfield, and Trey Burchfield; and her great-grandchildren: Conner and Emily Livesay, Cooper Crutsinger, Benjamin Crutsinger and Cole Crutsinger, Hudson and Major Livesay. Her memorial service was held at on Saturday February 20th at The Forum in the Woodlands, TX. Her burial followed at the Giddings City Cemetery, next to her beloved husband
