World Day of Prayer

For several years many of the women in our community have gathered together to participate in the World Day of Prayer which is coordinated by Christian Women United and is scheduled for the first Friday in March each year.

This year, First Christian Church will host this event for our community. The date is Friday, March 5. The focus of this year’s emphasis will be “Camaroon.” The women of that country have compiled a program showcasing the history and needs of their country. This special world day of prayer is observed in 2,200 communities across the U.S. and Canada and 170 countries around the world.

This is your reminder and invitation to participate in this year’s Lexington World Day of Prayer observance. Bring a covered dish for lunch – casserole – salad or dessert.

This gathering of the ladies of our community is always a wonderful time to share our faith and friendship as we gather around the table for a time of food – fun – and fellowship.

World day of Prayer held 1,791 Services last year in the United States alone with over 66,000 women in attendance. Written up in the World day of Prayer handbook for this year, along with only a handfull of other towns across the US was a report of our services in Lexington reported by Kathi Olechowski from Holy Family Catholic Church. She said “all the speakers and children involved in their services had great fun dressing in the fashion of women and children of PNG. This helped them identify more closely with the women and children of Papua New Guinea.
