Giddings Police Report

February 8, 2010

At 2:03 p.m. Lt. Harney met with a complainant in the lobby in reference to someone striking his vehicle at his residence located at 389 N. Chambers over the weekend. The owner of the vehicle, Mr. Abel Cormona, said sometime Sunday night someone struck his vehicle while it was parked on the street. Mr. Cormona said the vehicle was parked against the curb in front of his residence facing north when an unknown vehicle struck the passenger side door causing minor damage. Mr. Cormona does not know who may have struck his vehicle. He said he checked the immediate area for any evidence that may have been left behind by the other vehicle but did not find anything. There was no paint transfer from the suspect’s to Mr. Cormonas’ vehicle. A blue form was given to Mr. Cormona and Lt. Harney explained the directions on how to fill it out.

February 9, 2010

At approximately 11:05 a.m., Officer Ramirez was dispatched to the Classic Bank located at 825 E. Austin St. in reference to a counterfeit U.S. Currency bill. Upon arrival he met with the complainant and she stated that the bank had received a deposit from a business in town and in the deposit was a counterfeit ten dollar bill. Case pending further investigation.

Officer Lehmann responded to a complainant in the Giddings Police Department lobby at approximately 12:14 p.m. Lajune Cheri Sims reported her wallet as stolen.

February 11, 2010 At 2:20 p.m. Officer Griffin initiated a traffic stop in the 1600 block of E. Austin. The driver, Anand Navanit Patel of Temple, was subsequently placed under arrest for Driving While License Invalid/Suspended and a Probation Violation Warrant (DWI) out of Travis County and taken to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and released.

February 13, 2010

At 12:06 a.m., Officer Ramirez was on patrol in the area of the 700 block of West Columbus St. He drove by the residence at 726 W. Columbus and observed a white male subject that had an out of country warrant. The wanted subject was identified as Johnathan Boswell and was wanted from Presidio County for Possession of a Controlled Substance-Cocaine, warrant #732. The warrant was confirmed and Boswell was placed under arrest and transported to the Lee County Sheriff’s Department’s Jail for process and released to jail staff. Case closed – adult arrest.

February 13, 2010

While on routine patrol at approximately 2:25 a.m., Sgt. Ray was dispatched to 184 W. Austin St – Shooties Bar, in reference to an assault. Juan Lucia reported that Lucio Segunda assaulted him. Charges pending.

February 13, 2010

At 1:55 a.m., Officer Shepard observed a green Kia Sephia driving on Hempstead Street toward Hwy 290 with no headlights on. He made contact with the driver, identified as Charles Edward Atkins of La Grange. While talking with Atkins, Officer Shepard believed he may be intoxicated. After further investigation, it was determined that Atkins was intoxicated and he was arrested for DWI and transported to the Lee County Jail for booking.
