W.L. “Big Boy” Davis

January 9, 1916 - February 5, 2010

Funeral services for W.L. “Big Boy” Davis, 94 of Giddings, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 12, 2010 at Bethel-St. Paul United Baptist Church in Giddings with Rev. Frank Garrett and Rev. Leslie Chandler Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Pilgrim’s Rest Primitive Baptist Cemetery in Giddings. Visitation will be held Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The Davis family will be present for visitation from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

W.L. passed away Friday, February 5, 2010 at Oakland Manor Nursing Center in Giddings.

Willis Lee Davis was born on January 9, 1916 in Lee County, Texas to Tender & Julia (Lee) Davis. He was a retired farmer and had been employed with the Giddings State School for many years.

W.L. was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Dori Davis, Tender Davis Jr., Lenoise Davis and Govener Davis and two sisters, Julia Frances and Flossie Davis.

He is survived by his adopted son, Victor & Alonia Moore of Giddings; granddaughter, Jasmine Fuselier of Giddings; sister, Ruthie Davis of Giddings; three nieces, Rosie Lee Sims of Giddings, Gracie Lang of Giddings and Sharon Ray of Lockhart; two nephews, Vernon & Darolyn Dawan of Indiana and Timothy L. Frances of Austin; 11 great nieces and nephews; sisterin law, Thelma Davis of Giddings; very special love, Dorothy Moore of Giddings as well as a host of great, great nieces and nephews and other extended relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Pilgrims Rest Primitive Baptist Cemetery Association or to the charity of one’s choice.
