Henry Heller, a Middle School FFA member from Lexington, exhibited a First Place Light Weight American Cross Steer in the Junior Steer Show at the 2010 legendary Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo on Thursday, February 4, 2010. In addition to this tremendous showing by a Lexington native, another young Lexington exhibitor took the second place trophy in the same competition. Kayla Boettcher, a 3rd grade student at Lexington Elementary School, won Second for her Light Weight American Cross Steer, finishing just behind Henry at the prestigious event.

Henry is the son of Russell and Shannon Heller and Kayla is the daughter of Craig and Elizabeth Boettcher, all of Lexington.

Junior show entries totaled over 10,000 at this year’s show which ended Sunday, February 7.

Winning exhibitors are awarded cash “premiums” – this year to exceed $89,985 – in addition to monies generated from the sale of animals in the show’s sale of champion steers, lambs, barrows and wether goats.
