Lady Eagles Fall to Salado
Lexington lost a heartbreaker 49-42 to Salado Tuesday night. The Lady Eagles played their hearts out and were ahead of the state ranked Salado team with four minutes left in the game. Salado’s excellent outside shooting and 10 of 12 from the free throw line spelled doom for Lexington.
The girls’ game, much like the boys game, was a defensive battle. Salado took the first period 10-8. The two points were the difference in the game at half, and at the end of the third period.
Once again free throw shooting hurt the Lady Eagles as they converted only five of 12 opportunities. Lexington outrebounded Salado and matched them steal for steal on defense.
The much improved Lady Eagles are almost there, losing several games by just a little. With another year’s experience and with the bulk of the team returning next year, Lexington will be one of the district favorites.
