Quilting Angels Celebrate Beginning of 15th Year of Service

Gerline’s Quilting Angels met for lunch at the Bull Pen in Serbin to celebrate the beginning of their 15th year of donating quilts to Lee County service organizations. The Angels donated 50 quilts and 19 afghans during 2009. Recipients of these handmade items include Lee County Volunteer Fire Departments, Cattlemen for Cancer Research, Children’s Advocacy Center and the Family Crisis Center. They also gave quilts to benefits for Lee County individuals struck by tragedy during the year and to four of their own Angels who are fighting cancer.

The Angels use donated fabrics and apply cash gifts toward the purchase of other necessary supplies. All donations are appreciated and are tax deductible.

Gerline’s Quilting Angels meet the first and third Mondays of each month at Gerline’s Quilt Shoppe. Beginning and experienced quilters are welcome to join the group. For more information, call 979-542-3318.
