Lady Eagles Nip Lago Vista

by Mike Organ

Mackenzie Brown came off the bench to break a 25-all tie with five straight points late in the third quarter. Lexington would never relinquish the lead. Brown had nine straight points, with a fourpoint play coming after a Lago Vista field goal.

Lexington and Lago Vista had gotten to 25-all spot with hard nosed defense and slowed offensive possessions. After the Brown burst, both teams heated up. Nicole Koch scored five straight points in the fourth period on a lay in after a steal and a threepointer. Deja Griffin then drove hard to the basket for a couple of contested lay ups. Angel Parks did her usual job of cleaning the boards with 10 rebounds and 12 points for a double-double.

Lexington almost squandered the win with poor free-throw shooting. In a closely called game, the Lady Eagles were able to convert only 14 of 38 free throw opportunities. (37%). Lago Vista was able to convert 15 of 25 charity tosses.
