Eagles Sink Vikings 67-47

Take over 1st Place
by Mike Organ

Lexington’s relentless defensive pressure caused Lago Vista to crater in the third quarter as the Eagles broke open a close game. Lexington outscored LV 25-4 in the third period alone to cruise to victory. Tevin Lovings was accurate from the outside hitting a pair of treys and converting steals for deuces as he led the team with 12 points. Josh Murray and Anthony Robbins were right behind in scoring with 11 and 10 points respectively. The Eagles are now 5-0 in district play and in first place alone.

The win over Lago Vista and Jarrell’s defeat of Academy, puts the Eagles alone in first place with one game left in the first round of District 25-AA action.

Lexington and Lago Vista traded baskets and turnovers in the first half as the two teams battled to a 28-all tie at the break. Lago jumped out to a lead as Lexington could not score the first four minutes of the game. Lexington quickly got back into the game with a couple of steals and a three pointer by Kaelan Blok.

After the pivotal third quarter Lago Vista looked to just finish the game. Lexington backed off the pressure in the back court and the two teams played evenly again the final quarter.

The Eagle JV fell to Lago Vista 29-22 in the opening game of the night. Donnie Havard led the JV in scoring with 10 points.
