From the Mayor’s Desk
The move to the new City Hall took place over the weekend. While everyone is still busy getting straightened out and organized, we are making every effort to keep the business of the City running smoothly as we transition into the new facility.

On Wednesday, January 13, 2010, the Lexington City Council met in regular session. Present were Mayor Robert Willrich, Sr., Councilpersons Tony Tavary, Tim Brown, Greg Langehennig, Loria Barnikow, William Langehennig and City Attorney Tim Kleinschmidt.
Following approval of the December 8th meeting minutes, the council voted to pay bills 1-47 for the month of December 2009. The vote to pay bill 48 for the month of December passed with two abstentions (Greg Langehennig and William Langehennig).
The motion was then made to deny a new water tap on an existing water line on CR 405 for Tommy Hart. The motion passed with one abstention (Tim Brown).
On a unanimous vote, Adams Upholstery & Computer Consultants was hired to do all computer repairs and installations on networking. The council then voted to take no action on allowing Live Air Networks to run an antenna on the City’s water tower.
The motion was made to approve the contract with Blue Water/Cross Country Water, as presented with changes by the City Attorney, for backup water supply only. The vote was 3 for with 2 abstentions (William Langehennig and Greg Langehennig who wanted it known that he did not want to make a decision until he had talked with the City Engineer about how they felt about this issue).
The Council then voted to run an ad in the paper to hire a new public works employee with electrical experience to replace Walter Moerbe, Jr., who is retiring in May 2010.
The Council unanimously voted to add the following resolution to the Public Water System Code of Ordinance on cross connections: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LEXINGTON, TEXAS AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LEXINGTON, TEXAS BY ADDING A NEW SECTION TO BE ENTITLED “CROSS-CONNECTION CONTROL PROGRAM”’ PROVIDING A REPEALER CLAUSE; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; ESTABLISHING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF AND PROVISIONS FOR ENFORCEMENT OF THESE RESTRICTIONS; FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS ORDINANCE IS PASSED IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
Following approval of the Budget, Finance and Police reports, the meeting adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
