Man Indicted for Intoxication Manslaughter
Houston Tate Sutton, 20, of Dimmit, Texas was indicted for Intoxication Manslaughter on January 12, 2010 by the Lee County Grand Jury.
His indictment stems from an accident that occurred on Friday, October 9, 2009. According to the Department of Public Safety, Sutton was driving westbound on Highway 21 in Lee County shortly before 6 a.m. in a 2006 Ford pickup. He allegedly crossed the center line striking a 2007 Chevy pickup head-on.
The Chevy was driven by 43- year-old Dime Box resident Rene Cruz Vega, who was declared dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace, Danita Smith.
The trooper working the accident said both drivers were wearing seat belts and that there had been a light rain. Vega was a supervisor at Diamond P Lease and Well Service in Dime Box. Sutton was a college student in College Station.
