Lexington 8A Boys Reverse the Night’s Trend
Thursday night, January 14, Lexington Middle School boys basketball teams hosted the Bees of Academy. 7B tipped off first in a losing effort. The Bees had too much on for the young Eagles, only allowing 2 buckets in the entire game, both made by Caleb Braziel. Final score was Academy over Lexington 13-4.
8B went to war with more energy, but similar results. Academy over Lexington 12-6. 7A added to the list of Eagle casualties for the night. While the score was held reasonably close through three periods, in the fourth Academy added another win for the night. The last game of the night was 8A.
Reversing the trend for the night, the 8A Eagles hit the court with determination and a complete command of the game. The Eagles harassed the Bees all night with full court presses and quick passes. The first period ended 15-2. The second period showed an Academy resurgence as the period ended Lexington still up 19- 12. After the half Lexington went back to their fast paced attack and strengthened their lead to 25-15. The fourth period was more of the same and Lexington was ahead and doing so well, that the usually animated Coach Holcomb was able to sit down and watch while the action unfolded. The final score allowed the only Lexington win of the night and had the Eagles over the Bees 36-27.
During the first half of the game Jamyson Scott came off the bench and in short order had put up two 3 pointers and another two to account for more than half of the Eagle points. Cameron Janda continues to improve in his post position contributing some good rebounding and scoring.
In the second half Noble Little stepped in from his outside position and on numerous occasions, out battled larger Academy posts winning the rebound war. Eriq Mitchell, London Jacob, Corey Strain and Nate Holcomb as usual did an outstanding job anchoring the team
