Eagles Fell State- Ranked Jarrell

The Lexington Eagles had another ‘landmark’ victory Tuesday night as they beat longtime nemesis Jarrell 55-51 in match of District unbeatens. Jarrell lead at the end of each of the first three quarters. Jarrell led by six-points at the end of the third quarter.

Lexington came screaming back late in the fourth quarter. Lexington closed to within six points with 3:11 left in the game.

Lexington eventually tied the game on Kelden Wren’s twisting drive and layup. Wren was fouled and converted the three-point play to make the score 47-47.

Julien Clark was back on his game as he scored 23-points. After Wren tied the game, Jarrell made two free throws. Kaelan Blok made one of two charity tosses to leave Jarrell ahead 49-48.

Jarrell turned the ball over twice. The first led to a missed shot, but the second gave Clark a chance to make a layup to give Lexington its first lead of the night with 52 seconds left in the game.

Jarrell answered with a great bank shot high off the glass to regain the lead. Clark banked in a short shot to give Lexington a lead it would not give up.

The excitement was not over though. Jarrell turned the ball over and Clark got control of the ball. He was quickly fouled. Clark made one of the two free throws to make the score 53-51 Lexington.

Tevin Lovings tipped a pass out-of-bounds with 7.59 seconds left. Jarrell inbounded, took a three-point shot that bounded off long and captured by Jarrell.

The Cougars got a contested two point shot off but it failed also. Clark got the carom and was fouled. He made both freebies to make the final score 55-51.
