Kleinschmidt to Serve on Committee Focusing on Efficiency & Accountability
Last Tuesday, Texas Speaker of the House Joe Straus (R-San Antonio) appointed State Representative Tim Kleinschmidt (R-Lexington) to the House Select Committee on Government Efficiency and Accountability. The committee will review and make recommendations for eliminating inefficiencies in state government. The committee will also look for best practices in purchasing state goods and services and review the advantages and disadvantages of privatization.
“Texans deserve a government that makes the most effective and efficient use of limited tax dollars,” said Speaker Straus. “This committee will review our current operations, look at best practices, and recommend ways that state government can improve transparency and deliver better services at lower costs.”
“I am honored that Speaker Straus has placed me on the Select Committee on Government Efficiency and Accountability,” said Rep. Kleinschmidt. “Families in Texas have sat at their kitchen tables and discussed ways to trim the family budget to do more with less. State government should do the same. Texans expect and deserve an effective and efficient state government that is responsive to the taxpayers across our great state. I look forward to the challenge this opportunity presents and I will always keep in mind that the state’s financial resources are created by the hard work of Texans.”
