Lexington Flails Florence 56-36
Lexington used a huge 25 blast in the first quarter to run away from visiting Florence Friday night. The Eagles got double-digit scoring from Xavier Ward with 13. Eight other Eagles contributed points in as Lexington continued undefeated in District 25-AA action.
The hustling, trapping press of the Eagles led to several steals and many turnovers by the rattled Buffs in the first period. The steals allowed the Eagles to shoot from very close to the basket and run up the huge opening quarter score.
Florence briefly was able to maneuver through the Eagle pressure and keep the second quarter close. But falling back 17 in the first quarter was just too much for the Buffs to overcome.
A big positive is that usual team leading scorer, Julien Clark, only had six points and teammates picked up the scoring slack. Kelden Wren, Tevin Lovings, and Jason Washington dropped in treys for the Eagles.
