Giddings Police Report

January 4, 2010

At 12:16 p.m., Officer Griffin initiated a traffic stop in the 200 blk. of W. Austin. Anthony Dewayne Johnson of Austin was placed under arrest for Driving While License Invalid/Suspended and taken to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

January 4, 2010

At 1:46 p.m., a Misdemeanor Theft occurred at the Dollar General store located at 2440 E. 290 where a younger, W/M subject was observed on the surveillance video removing a cell phone from the package then leaving the store. On Friday, 1-8-10, Jordan Lee Parks of Giddings was issued a citation for the theft and released.

January 5, 2010

At 1:04 a.m., Sgt Ramsey and Officer Strong observed a subject walking around inside a vacant building that had been declared unsafe for occupancy. The building was located in the 200 blk of W. Houston. Officer Spencer responded to assist. Several announcements were made for the subject to come out and they were not answered. Officers entered and found a subject concealed inside a fold-a-way couch. The subject was identified as Allen S. Bledsoe, 24. Bledsoe resisted arrest and was transported to the Lee County Jail where he was charged with Resisting Arrest.

January 5, 2010

At 10:23 a.m., Officer Griffin initiated a traffic stop in the 1600 blk of E. Austin. The driver, Delbert Claud Phillips III of Austin was placed under arrest for Driving While License Invalid/ Suspended and taken to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

January 6, 2010

At 1:39 a.m. Officer Spencer observed a vehicle stopped in the ditch/curb in the 500 blk of N. Waco. The vehicle then traveled south on Waco traveling on the wrong side of the road. The vehicle turned east on Houston. The vehicle drove in the middle of the street and then turned onto N. Caldwell. A traffic stop was made and the vehicle stopped on the wrong side of the street. The driver was identified as Carlos A. Sauceda. Open alcoholic beverages were found in the vehicle and the driver was unable to perform field sobriety tasks. The driver was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and transported to the Lee County Jail.

January 6, 2010

At 3:42 p.m., Officer Ramirez was dispatched to Pumpco In. located at 1209 S. Main St. to meet with a complainant identified as Sabina Cardenas in reference to an accident. Cardenas stated that the RV that struck her from behind drove off traveling southbound on State Highway 77. Cardenas’ vehicle had very minimal damage and she was issued a blue form. The RV was not located. Cardenas stated that she did not want officers to pursue the case.

January 6, 2010

At approximately5:30 p.m. Officer Shepard met with complainant Oran Baker in reference to Credit Card Abuse. Oran stated that Rodney Shepard, a truck driver for their company Burggraf Tire Service, used his company credit card for personal use, which is unauthorized by the company. Oran stated that Rodney has done this in numerous other towns over the past couple of weeks.

January 7, 2010

At 12:20 p.m., Officer Ramirez was dispatched to the Dollar General Store located at 2440 E. Austin in reference to theft. Upon arrival, Officer Ramirez met with the store manager, Angelica Zachary and she stated that three subjects came inside the store, picked up some items and concealed them and left without paying for them. The incident was recorded on video. Case pending further investigation.

January 7, 2010

At 5:12, Officer Shepard met with complainant, Raine Abraham Lara of Giddings, in reference to a theft that occurred on November 15, 2009. Raine stated that he had a bass pedal stolen from the First Assembly of God Church that his sister had used the day prior. This case is currently under investigation.

January 8, 2010

At 3:32 p.m. Officer Griffin responded to 452 S. Harris in reference to a leaving the scene of a collision call-for-service. Jennifer L. Christianson’s vehicle was parked in front of her residence and was struck on the passenger side, by an unknown vehicle, which left the scene without leaving the required information.

January 9, 2010

At 5:00 a.m., Officer Spencer observed a male subject walking from his car headed to an afterhours club in the 200 blk of Houston. The subject was stumbling as he walked. The subject, identified as Armando Prieto (19) was carrying a cup which contained an alcoholic beverage (mixed drink). Prieto was cited for Minor in Possession and released to an adult.

January 9, 2010

At 2:07 p.m., Officer Griffin initiated a traffic stop at the 500 blk of S. Main. The driver, Ashley Brook Scott of Victoria, did not stop her vehicle and attempted to avoid the police unit through residential neighborhood streets. She was issued a citation for Speeding and will be issued a summons for Fleeing/Attempting to Elude Police Officer-Class B. Misdemeanor and released.

January 10, 2010

At 1:37 p.m., Officer Griffin initiated a traffic stop in the 1900 blk of W Austin. The driver, Ashley Ann Johnston of Houston, was placed under arrest for Driving While License Invalid/ Suspended & No Insurance-2nd and taken to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and released.
