Fayette County Country Music Club

Jacob Austin Jacob Austin The Fayette County Country Music Club will host their monthly Opry on Monday, January 18, 2010 at the KC Hall in La Grange. The show starts at 7:30 P.M. and the doors will open at 5:30 P.M. Admission is only $5.00.

This month we are featuring:

ROADRUNNER SQUARE DANCERS will be here to entertain you with their square dancing. The club evolved in the 1970s and they have danced at various places. Presently they are dancing at the Randolph Recreation Center. They routinely do exhibitions at the various Nursing Homes in the community and special events: the dedication of the Fayette County Courthouse, Relay for Life, Texas Heroes Day at Monument Hill State Park. The club is a diversified group of people from different walks of life and enjoy the followship, support and exercise provided physically and mentally. The Roadrunners will be having Fun Nights January 19 and 26 and will begin lessons February 2, 2010.

GAYLA NIMTZ has been playing and singing since the age of 8 and enjoys all types of music from Hank to Kris Kristofferson, Patsy Cline to Janis Joplin. She has written over 50 songs and hopes one day to get one or two of them published. Among the highlights of her career was meeting Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, Brenda Lee, Barbara Mandrell, George Strait and getting to audition for the Patsy Cline story on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry.

CHARLES MARBURGER – is from the Round Top area and at the age of 12 started playing the trumpet along with his grandmother who played the piano and later on learned to play the guitar, saxophone and keyboard. In 2002 he formed the Band called the Fabulous 4 and they perform regularly in Fayette, Lee, Colorado and surrounding counties for private parties as well as public dances. He has a CD entitled “Charles Marburger & The Fabulous 4”.

TIM KNESEK is from La Grange and began playing the guitar and singing at the age of 13. Professional music training was in the back of his old hunting buddy Shorty Zboril’s gun shop located near Somerville where he grew up. Tim plays with the St. Paul Lutheran Church – La Grange praise band on the first and third Sundays of each month. He also plays with a band called “The Back Porch Boys”. Tim enjoys music ranging from Amazing Trace to Your Cheatin’ Heart so there will be a little bit for everyone.

ED “BUGGIE ALLEN” PEYER is from Columbus and was born in Wichita Falls Texas and moved to North Carolina. In 1974 he returned to Texas and started singing country music. While playing one night a piano player decided that his name should be “Boogie Allen” and his reputation has grown. With a vocal range that seems to have no end, he will reach out and touch you with your favorite songs. His talent has won him appearances with country greats: Alabama, Bellamy Brothers, Ronnie Milsap, Ray Price, Johnny Rodriguez and many more.

JACOB AUSTIN is a nineteen year old young man that has been singing for more than half his life. Jacob performs with his father David, who was in a band back in the old days, and he plays the twelve and six string rhythm guitars. He and his Dad sing at Jamborees, Opry’s churches and Jubilees around Texas. Jacob picked up playing the mandolin and the harmonica to form a duet and accompany himself. They recruited Mama Liz to join them on stage playing the autoharp in the summer of 2006 and they love to play traditional country, ballads and the spiritual/traditional gospel music, as well as some of their original material. In June 2008 the group released their first CD and Jacob is currently writing and co-writing with his Dad and Mom for the next CD.
