Lady Eagles Win Consolation

After dropping the first game of the Thorndale Tourney to Franklin the Lexington Lady Eagles bounced back to win the consolation championship. Lexington defeated Mumford for the third time this season and neighboring Caldwell for the trophy.

Franklin defeated Lexington with a strong second half after Lexington had led by as much as eight points. Lexington scored 19 points in the first quarter but only 28 the rest of the game. Franklin trailed 28-24 at halftime but outscored the Lady Eagles by 14- points in the second half. Angel Parks led the Eagle effort with 15 points. Parks also pulled down nine rebounds.

In Monday’s second game Lexington outscored Mumford 40-36. Emilie Bell led the Lexington scoring with 15 points. Parks led the rebounding with 10 caroms collected.

Tuesday afternoon Lexington lit up neighboring Caldwell in the consolation game. The Lady Eagle defense stifled the Lady Hornets, allowing them no more than sixpoints in any quarter.

Bell again led the scoring with 12 points. Rachel Clark added eight critical points as Lexington got scoring from seven different players.

Bell was selected to the all-tourney team for her performance in the tourney.
