Giddings Police Report

December 26, 2009

At 4:15 p.m. Officer Spencer was dispatched to the A.M.E. Church at 613 W. Houston in reference to an attempted burglary. Thelma Washington reported the damage to an exterior door. Signs of an attempted forced entry were obvious. The case is currently being investigated as Criminal Mischief to a Place of Worship (State Jail Felony). Anyone with information about this case should contact the Giddings Police Department.

December 27, 2009

At 4:16 p.m. Officer Spencer was dispatched to the Citgo at N. Main and W. Independence in reference to a vehicle being damaged while parked in the parking lot. Raven Locke reported that her vehicle was damaged while she was inside working. The case is under investigation.

December 29, 2009

At 2:48 p.m., Officer Hohertz, Officer Ramirez, and Officer Shepard were dispatched to Wal- Mart located at 2400 E. Austin in reference to an accident involving two pedestrians with one injured. B&M Ambulance transported one individual to St. Marks Emergency Room in La Grange. Photos of the scene were taken and statements were obtained.

December 30, 2009

At approximately 6:50 a.m., Detective Cpl. Carvin was dispatched to Oakland Manor in reference to burglary of a vehicle. Upon arrival, she met with the complainant, Stephanie Clopton. The driver’s side window of her vehicle had been shattered and her wallet was missing from the vehicle. The case is active and under investigation.

December 31, 2009

At 8:34 p.m. Officer Griffin initiated a traffic stop in the 300 block of W. Austin. The driver, William Edward Jukes of Dale, was placed under arrest for Driving While License Invalid/Suspended and taken to the LCSO and released.

December 31, 2009

At 10:45 p.m., Officer Griffin initiated a traffic stop in the 300 block of N. Main. The driver Oscar Espinoza-Salazar of Giddings, was placed under arrest for DWI and No Driver’s License and taken to the LCSO and released.

January 1, 2010

At 2:38 a.m. Sgt. Ramsey received a call from dispatch in reference to a call from Buc-ee’s that a subject, identified as Zachary Mott was in the store showing off a bag of marijuana. He left in a truck traveling East on Hwy 290. Sgt. Ramsey located the truck and identified the driver as Donald Easley. Officer Griffin came to the stop to assist and arrested Zachary for POM and POCS. Sgt. Ramsey placed Donald under arrest for POCS and DWI. The officers recovered cocaine and marijuana. Both subjects were transported to the LCSO where they were secured in a cell.

January 2, 2010

At 1:07 p.m., Lt. Harney received a call from dispatch in reference to criminal mischief at 1603 E. Hempstead. Upon arrival, he met with complainant, Floyd Kasper who said that sometime after 9:00 p.m. someone entered his property and broke out the back window of the 1990 Buick. Mr. Kasper said that he had problems in the past with juveniles knocking on his door in the middle of the night and he believes that the same ones may be responsible. Case pending.

January 2, 2010

At 2:56 p.m., Officer Hohertz and Officer Ramirez were dispatched to the Giddings Police Department in reference to a complainant wanting to speak to an officer on the phone about his mailbox getting knocked over. The officers met with the complainant at the scene. Pictures were taken. No leads. The mailbox is valued at $6. Case under investigation.

January 2, 2010

At 4:16 p.m., Officer Ramirez was dispatched to 404 S. Joekel St. to speak with a complainant identified as Timothy Pitts in reference to damage done to the landscaping brick located in his front yard. The damage to the bricks is approximately $500. The incident occurred sometime over the night. Case pending.

January 2, 2010

At 4:22, Lt. Harney received a call from dispatch in reference to damage to a parked boat located at 297 Cactus St. Upon arrival, Lt. Harney was met by Jonathan Alexander who is the actual owner of the boat and trailer that was damaged. Mr. Alexander said that he is unsure when the boat was damaged and does not know who may be responsible for the damage. The boat was parked on the east side of Cactus St. and was facing north. The top left side of the back of the boat had minor damage to it. The boat trailer had minor damage to the left fender. There was not paint transfer from the other vehicle found on the boat or trailer. There was no evidence left behind from the suspect(s) vehicle.

January 2, 2010

While on routine patrol in the 200 block of E. Industry, Officer Lehmann and Sgt. Ray cited and released Georgia Marie Menzel for Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor. The minors were cited and released for Minor in Possession of Alcohol.

January 3, 2010

At 2:48 a.m., Officer Shepard was traveling eastbound at W. Austin when he observed a white Ford F-150 exceeding the speed limit at approximately 72 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. He initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Brian Lee Dobos of Bastrop. After further investigation, it was determined that Dobos may be intoxicated and was later arrested for DWI and transported to the Lee County Jail for booking.

January 3, 2010

At 5:30 p.m. Officers Ramirez and Hohertz were dispatched to the Oakland Manor Nursing Home in reference to found narcotics. The reporting party, Nelie Black stated that one of her nurses found a small clear baggie that contained marijuana. The baggie was taken and later placed into evidence. Case closed.

January 3, 2010

At approximately10:00 p.m., Officer Shepard received a call from dispatch in reference to a suspicious vehicle in the area of 1010 Whispering Oaks. Upon arrival he met with the complainants, Pamela Krchnak and Cheryl Pietsch who stated that they noticed a vehicle speeding through the neighborhood while they were walking and they also found two vehicle keys in the area of 644 Acorn St. The vehicle keys were taken to the GPD.
