Billy “Mitch” Mitchell

July 8, 1920 - December 27, 2009

Memorial services for Billy S. Mitchell were held on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Rev. John Warren and Rev. Calvin Springer officiating.

Billy was born July 8, 1920 in Strawn, Texas to Willie Wilson and Sarah Irene (Sarrett) Mitchell. He was a 1937 graduate of Ranger High School in Ranger, Texas. He attended Texas A&M University from 1939 to 1943. He served in the U.S. Army as a Captain from 1943 to 1948. Billy then graduated from Texas A&M University 1949 with a B.S. degree in Marketing and Finance.

On January 9, 1943, he and Georgie Helen Hill were married in Brazos County, Texas.

Billy worked as a salesman with Ralston Purina Company 1949 to 1955. He was in private business in Woodville, Texas from 1955- 1964. He became District Sales manager and Area Production Manager with Ralston Purina 1964 to 1969. From 1969 to 1973 he was Vice President, with Fidelity Services Corporation. 1973 to present, Vice President of First National Bank of Waco.

Billy passed away Sunday, December 27, 2009 in the Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale, reaching the age of 89.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Mitchell on September 21, 2008.

Surviving; Brother, James L. Mitchell of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Nephew, Tommy Don Stanfil of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Niece, Jodie Barker of Graham, Texas. Goddaughter, Pattie Ivey of Austin. Cousin, W.E. Wetzel of Kerrville and several nieces, a nephew and a host of friends.
