Competition in County Races

Johnny Lyon was the headline act this week at Country Music Monday, which was held in its new venue at the new Giddings High School. With the deadline to file now passed, it appears there will be competition in five different Lee County races this year, with three of those facing opponents in the March 2 Primary, all of them Democrats.

Running for County Judge are Paul Fischer (D) and Bryan Iselt (D); for Commissioner Pct. 2 is Douglas Hartfield (D); for Commissioner Pct. 4 are Linda Kovar (D) and Steven Knobloch (R); for District Clerk is Lisa Teinert (D); for County Clerk is Sharon Blasig (D); for County Treasurer are Melinda “Lyndy” Krause (D) and Hilary Kieschnick (D); for Justice of the Peace Pct. 2 are Troy Bise (D), Erie Stowers (D) and Charles (Charlie) Mayer (R); for Justice of the Peace Pct. 3 are Nick Hester (D) and Richard Reat (R) and for Justice of the Peace Pct. 4 is Danita Smith (D).
