Elsie Domel Nitsche

February8,1914- December18,2009

Elsie Ruth Domel Nitsche was born on February 8, 1914 in Walburg, Texas to August Domel Sr. and Hulda (Zoch) Domel. She was baptized on February 22, 1914 and confirmed on April 1, 1928 both at Zion Lutheran Church in Walburg by Rev. J.H. Sieck. Elsie was united in marriage to Louis Herman Nitsche on July 10, 1932 also at Zion Lutheran Church in Walburg by Rev. J.H. Sieck. Their union was blessed with two daughters, Shirley and Mary Ann. Soon after their marriage, they moved to Lee County. Elsie was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed her bible study group and had been a member of the Ladies Aid at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was an excellent cook who enjoyed spending time with her family.

The Lord called Elsie home on Friday evening, December 18, 2009 having reached the age of 95 years.

Funeral services for Elsie Nitsche of Giddings are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Keith Aschenbeck officiating. Burial will follow in the Giddings City Cemetery in Giddings.

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 71 years, Louis; granddaughter, Brenda Harris; granddaughter-inlaw, Cathy Harris; sisters, Clara Domel, Norma Domel Neitsch and Selma Domel and her brothers, Edwin Domel, Alvin T. Domel, Walter Domel, Herman Domel, August F. Domel Jr., Ernest Domel Sr. and Ludwig A. Domel.

She is survived by her daughters, Shirley & Doug Harris of Austin and Mary Ann Seidler of Giddings; grandson, Steven Harris of Bastrop; granddaughter, Cindy & Sonny Meurin of Austin; 2 great grandchildren, Britney Meurin of Austin & Kaitlin Meurin of Austin as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
