Deaner Ray was born November 4, 1932 in Milam County, Texas to Edward Anderson and Clara Mae (Morris) Cotton.
On January 1, 1949, she and David Ray were married in Rockdale. Two daughters were born to this union.
Deaner was a life long resident of Rockdale, where she was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church.
Deaner passed away Sunday, December 13, 2009 at her home in Rockdale with her family. She reached the age of 77.
Deaner was preceded in death by her father.
Surviving are her husband of 60 years, David Ray of Rockdale. Daughters, Regina Lee Harris and husband Michael of Richmond, Texas. Deborah Allyne York and husband Jim of Reno, Nevada. One granddaughter, Hannah Leigh Harris of Richmond. Deaner’s mother, Clara Mae Cotton of Black Jack. Two brothers, Condale Cotton of Rockdale and Dale Bert Cotton of Anchorage, Alaska. Four sisters, Lowene Morgan of Lewistown, Montana, Christine Beard of Rockdale, Estell Wampler of Farmington, Missouri and Glenn Cotton of Lexington.
Funeral services were held on December 17, 2009 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Chelf officiating. Burial followed in the Black Jack Cemetery in the Black Jack Community.
