Giddings Police Report

December 8, 2009

At 3:40 p.m., Officer Spencer conducted a traffic stop in the 600 blk of E. Austin for expired registration. The driver was identified as Sean Dundon. Narcotics Detection Dog, Nellie, was used to conduct a free air sniff on the outside of the vehicle. Nellie showed a positive alert to the driver’s side of the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed a marijuana smoking pipe. The driver also admitted that he and friends had smoked marijuana in the vehicle the night before. The driver was released with a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia.

December 9, 2009

At 1:32 a.m., Office Griffin initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 300 blk. of S. Caldwell. The driver, Wanda Ruth Poirier of Giddings, was placed under arrest for Possession of a Controlled Substance (pills) & No Driver’s License and taken to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

December 10, 2009

At 1:51 p.m., Officer Ramirez and Officer Jim Hohertz were dispatched to Dollar General Store located at 2440 E. Austin in reference to a theft. Upon arrival they met with the complainant, Angelica Zachary, who stated that a female that works at Subway in Giddings had taken a bottle of medicine and placed it in her purse. When the actor later identified as Christi Davis went to check out Zachary confronted her about the medicine. It was later paid for and Zachary wanted a criminal trespass warning issued to Davis. The officers went to Subway and Zachary pointed out Davis and she was issued a criminal trespass warning. No charges filed.

December 10, 2009

While on routine patrol, at 8:56 p.m., in the 200 block of E. Austin, Officer Lehmann and Sgt. Ray cited Dax Jacoy West of Possession of Marijuana and he was released.

December 11, 2009

At 10:41 a.m., Officer Shepard met with Sandra Lee Thomas in reference to a possible theft of property. Sandra stated that she sold her business name “Frankensteins”, to Jennifer Kozher, but had received no payments. Sandra stated that approximately 2 months ago, all of the cooking utensils, serving platters and remaining food condiments were taken. The case is pending investigation.

December 11, 2009

At 11:55 a.m., Det. Cpl. Carvin and Officer Shepard were advised by dispatch of an identity theft that had occurred. Upon arrival in the Police Department lobby, they met with complainants, Dennis and Diann Peitsch, who stated that someone had forged checks of theirs. After further investigation, it was discovered that the checks were duplicated. The case will be forwarded to the US Postal Inspector.

December 11, 2009

At 6:05 p.m., Officer Griffin responded to Wal-Mart, at 2374 E. Austin in reference to a Burglary of a Vehicle call-for-service. Corbitt Lynn Hill of Giddings stated his ’04 Ford F-150 had been entered and items removed without his consent while he shopped inside Wal-Mart. There is no suspect information.

December 11, 2009

At 11:12 p.m., Officer Strong, Sgt Ramsey, and Officer Griffin received an active warrant for Mary Cisneros Tello for violation of probation out of Lee County. They were able to locate Mary and place her under arrest for the warrant. She was transported to the LCSO where she was secured in a cell.

December 12, 2009

At 7:59 a.m., Det. Cpl. Carvin met with Howard Hobratschk at the Police Department in reference to Criminal Mischief. Mr. Hobratschk advised that his vehicle, a 1998 grey Pontiac Grand Prix, was parked overnight on Gaeke Street in front of his residence. He advised that when he approached his vehicle in the morning to go to work, he observed egg and egg shell on the driver’s side of his vehicle. He advised that he observed egg shell on the ground in front of several of his neighbors’ residences, but the vehicles had been moved prior and presumably before daylight when the driver would not have observed the damage. Cpl. Carvin advised Mr. Hobratschk to obtain an estimate for any damages to his vehicle and provide a copy for the case file. Officer Spencer made contact with Iva Locke, the owner of one of the damaged vehicles and photographed her vehicle. Case inactive.

December 12, 2009

At 8:17 a.m, Det. Cpl. Carvin was dispatched to Flowers by Laverne, located at 205 E. Austin in reference to a burglary. Upon arrival she met with the business owner, Laverne Wright, who advised that a rear window located on the northwest corner of the building had been broken but it did not appear that anything was missing from the business. It is not known at this time what was used to break the window, but the suspect unlocked the window and while attempting to gain access to the building the suspect was cut, leaving behind blood evidence. Evidence and photographs were collected from the scene. Case active and under investigation.

December 12, 2009

At 10:43 a.m., Officer Spencer was dispatched to Mayer Realty located at 974 E. Austin in reference to a rear window on the business being broken. Maria Segundo reported the damage to the window. This was the second business on this date reporting a broken window. The case is currently under investigation.

December 12, 2009

At 11:37 p.m., Officer Griffin responded to 215 W. Railroad (Dr. J’s Club) in reference to a call regarding a subject at the location harassing customers. Baldemar Espinosa, Jr. of Lexington, was placed under arrest for Public Intoxication & Failure to Identify (Refuse) and taken to the Lee County Sheriff ’s Office and released.
