Betty Jean McClain
Betty Jean Pendery McClain was born on March 21, 1920 in Brookfield, Missouri to Walter & Esther (West) Pendery. She was united in marriage to William McClain on December 30, 1939 in Cameron, Missouri. Mrs. McClain was a homemaker who enjoyed crafts, crocheting and sewing. She was an excellent seamstress who also served as a church organist for many years.
Mrs. McClain passed away Saturday morning at St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange.
Mrs. McClain was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Richard McClain; her brother, William Pendery and an infant grandson.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 70 years, William J. McClain of La Grange; 2 sons, Francis & Evie McClain of Venice, Florida and Mark & Leann McClain of La Grange; 2 daughters, Karen McDougall of Venice, Florida and Mary & Bill Castle of Sarasota, Florida; 5 grandchildren, Kenneth McDougall of Venice, FL, Kandi Ross of Sarasota, FL, Kelli & Ron Peyton of Venice, FL, Christina & Steve Reitz of Ft. George Meade, Maryland and Rebecca McClain of Austin, TX; 9 great grandchildren; brother, Walter & Rosalie Pendery of Belle Vista, Arkansas as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Winchester, Texas. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the St. Michael’s Lutheran Church Altar Restoration Fund.
