Ogden to File for Re-election

State Sen. Steve Ogden, R-Bryan, will file for re-election to the Texas Senate today. “While Texas state government is in good shape relative to other states, I’m concerned the about effects of the current recession on the state’s next budget,” Ogden said. “After discussion with my family, who have been so supportive of me over the last 20 years, I have decided to seek re-election.” Ogden was first elected to the Senate in 1997 and was re-elected to that position for three terms since. Prior to that, he served three terms in the Texas House of Representatives. He has served as chairman of the Senate Finance Committee since 2004 and has focused his efforts in the legislature on budget issues, education, child protection, transportation safety and criminal justice. “I know the 5th senatorial district very well and the people know me,” Ogden said. “This senate seat belongs to the people, and I serve at the pleasure of my constituents. I believe I have the experience and ability to best represent this district during these challenging times. If the people decide to send me back to Austin, I will do the job.”
