LeRoy Clinton Roitsch
LeRoy Clinton Roitsch, 84, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2009, at his home in Blue, Texas surrounded by his family after a lengthy and courageous battle with Parkinsons disease. He was born on February 28, 1925, in Springfield, Illinois. At the age of one year his family moved back to Texas. He graduated from Austin High School and attended East Texas State University. He served in the Army during World War II, Asiatic Theater and Army of Occupation (Japan). Following active duty he served in the Army Reserves. He married Delma Nadine Olle in 1948.
LeRoy was a life-long faithful member of Lutheran churches in Kurten, Beaumont, Austin and, most recently, Elgin, Texas. He was a rancher in Travis and Lee counties, retired teacher, talented and resourceful wood craftsman, school board member, school volunteer and community leader. He enjoyed fishing and creating with wood.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Hugo and Hulda Sweidom Roitsch; a son, Mark Steven; and great-granddaughter, Lillian Raya Roitsch.
LeRoy is survived by his wife, Delma Roitsch; brother, Arnold Roitsch; daughter, Christina and son-in-law Dan Raemsch; son, Clinton and daughter-in-law Becky Roitsch; daughter, Eileen Roitsch; son, Wade Roitsch; grandsons, Matthew Roitsch, Kyle Keahey, Nathan Raemsch, Milam Raemsch; and great-grandson, Marshall Hayden Roitsch.
A Funeral Service was at Grace Lutheran Church in Elgin, Texas on November 10th with Reverend Bryan Sullivan officiating. Interment was at Capital Memorial Park. Memorials may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church in Elgin.
