We are entering into a very busy season, so we want to give everyone an idea about all the “happenings” coming up in the near future:
Saturday, Dec. 5, is the annual Christmas Tree Lighting on the Square. The Log Cabins Historical Society will be selling hamburgers, chips and a drink to help support their programs. Santa will arrive on the Square right around dark, and will be available for photos.
Monday night, Dec. 7, is the annual Chamber of Commerce Christmas Dinner, at Granny’s Restaurant. This year, we are also honoring some of Lexington’s citizens who have been especially hardworking over the past year. The Chamber is frying turkey; please bring a side dish, dessert, or appetizer with you. Feel free to invite a friend or a couple whom you think might be interested in the Chamber or our programs (such as Homecoming, Chocolate Lovers Festival, Park building). Please come and join us if you can! Doors will open at 6 p.m. and dinner will start at approximately 6:30.
Next week is the beginning of Lexington’s Best Decorated Yard contest, organized by the Lexington Garden Club. They are looking for the Lexington area’s Best Decorated Yards for the Christmas season. Prizes will be awarded for the three best yards, and a list of all yards will be printed on flyers and in the Lexington Leader, creating a Christmas Lights Tour for residents and visitors to enjoy. Charm and originality count for more than size of the display. You should have your lights up by Dec. 8 and be sure your lights are turned on at dark so they can be viewed.
Winners will be announced on Dec. 13.
Forms are in banks and at City Hall, and in front of the Chamber building. You do not need a form, however; you can call Lee Marks at 773-2482 or Cherry Stover at 540-9136 for information, or to tell them about a yard that should be included.
Prizes are sponsored by Round Top State Bank; judging by Bluebonnet Electric Coop.
Hope to see you there. Lexington Chamber of Commerce
