Hutchison Posts Democrats’ Healthcare Legislation On Website

“Texans deserve to know what this bill holds in store for them.”
- Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison

With the Democratic leadership attempting to rush through their version of health care legislation, U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (Republican -TX) is giving Texans the opportunity to read what the bill contains by posting the entire legislation on her website www.hutchison.senate.gov.

“The Democrats healthcare reform proposal, which was crafted in secret, is full of tax increases, mandates and penalties, and will lead to rationing of healthcare,” said Senator Hutchison. “Republican Senators are gearing up to fight this bill and we want the American people to see for themselves what the bill contains and the government takeover of healthcare that is buried in the thousands of pages of legislation.”

“With the Democrats pulling out all stops to rush their government takeover legislation to the floor, Texans deserve to know what this bill holds in store for them,” Senator Hutchison said. “The choices we make regarding our family’s healthcare are some of the most personal we face, and the American people have a right to know what’s in this bill.”

The Democrats released the 2074-page legislation for the first time late on Wednesday, November 18th, yet are hoping to force a vote less than 72 hours later. Were someone to attempt to read the full document, they’d need to average nearly 29 pages per hour for the full 72 hours to complete in time.

Senator Hutchison has joined with Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) to demand that the full bill be read on the Senate floor before the Democratic Leader Harry Reid forces votes on the bill.

Texans can read the full text of the legislation on Senator Hutchison’s website.
