Superintendent of Lexington Schools Announces His Retirement
Dr. Chuck Holt announced at the LISD Board Meeting last Monday night that he will retire from public education effective June 2010. The announcement came as a shock to the board and staff who have enjoyed his guideance for the past five years.
In a letter to his staff, Holt wrote, “While I had not originally expected to make any change in this time frame, an opportunity has come my way that leads me away from Lexington. I have accepted a position as a University Professor at Texas A&M - Commerce teaching in their Masters and Doctoral Program beginning in the fall of 2010. This position also offers me the opportunity to continue my research and writing while working to improve public schools.”
“Donna [his wife] will also be retiring and entering graduate school to study Higher Education mathematics. We have made a wonderful home here in Lexington for five years, and we appreciate the positive experiences our family has enjoyed in both the school and throughout the community. Lexington will always hold a very special place in our hearts.”
Commerce, Texas is located about one hour drive northeast of the Dallas metroplex. It is a city of around 8,000 people.
