Citizen Catches Thief Red Handed
On November 23, 2009 at 6:29 a.m., Officer Spencer, Officer Connolly, Officer Lehmann, Cpl. Carvin, and Sgt. Ray with the Giddings Police Department responded to 199 Larabie Cr., in reference to a burglary of a motor vehicle. Kenny Lehmann reported that he exited his residence and approached his Jeep that was parked outside. When he opened the Jeep, he found a subject sitting in the driver’s seat. After Lehmann observed that the subject had removed the face plate for his stereo, he pulled the man from the Jeep and held him on the ground and called for Police.
The suspect was identified as 18 year-old Jesus Marquiz. When Marquiz was searched, he was found to be in possession of numerous items taken from other victims.
The investigation revealed that a total of nine vehicles were entered for the purpose of committing theft. Marquiz was also found in possession of marijuana and Xanax. He was taken to the Lee County Jail where he was charged with nine counts of Burglary of Vehicle, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
