2009 Pecan Show Results

Lee County Extension Agent Keeton Ehrig congratulates Olivia Mize on receiving both Grand Champion and Reserve Champion Commercial placings in the 2009 Lee/Burleson County Pecan Show. The 2009 Lee/Burleson County Pecan Show was held last week, sponsored by the Texas AgriLife Extension Service.

Winners of this year’s Lee/ Burleson County Pecan Show were: Olivia Weiser Mize, Grand Champion Commercial (Schley variety) and Reserve Champion Commercial (Sioux variety); John Smith, Grand Champion Native; and Virgil Birnbaum, Champion Classic (Gratex variety).

Mrs. Mize’s Schley and Sioux entries qualified for competition in the Regional Pecan Show.

Other exhibitors in the Commercial Division and their ribbon win- nings were: Choctaw (red ribbons) Natalee See and Virgil Birnbaum; Desirable (red ribbons) Carlee See, Natalee See and Virgil Birnbaum.

In the Native Division, exhibitors and their ribbon winnings were: Carlee See, blue ribbon, Stuart variety and Virgil Birnbaum, red ribbon, Pawnee variety.
