Sports Thoughts

by Mike Organ

District 25-AA is eliminated from the state playoffs after two rounds with Rogers’ defeat by Blanco. The district was not too strong against the rest of the teams in Region IV.

Sealy won District 25-AAA, Giddings was second and LaGrange was third. The only team remaining is LaGrange after two rounds. Giddings went out in the first round and Sealy in the second. LaGrange could end up playing Brookshire Royal next week.

A lot has been made about Jordan Shipley and Colt McCoy being roommates like their dads. If Graham and Brownwood win this week, the two dads’ teams would be playing each other in the state quarterfinals, the week of the Big XII championship game.

This is not sports, but needs to be reported. The LHS class of 1973 is coming to the aid of a failing friend. Marsha Nettles has been in ill health for quite a while due to a fight with cancer. Classmates from LHS are taking off work to come visit, take the family food, and be helpful in any way they can. The class communicator for all the updates is Madeline Stifflemire. The humanitarian efforts are not for anything else but love for a classmate.
