Giddings Police Report

November 16, 2009

At 12:31 pm, Officer Shepard was advised by dispatch of complainant in the lobby of the Giddings Police Department in reference to a past forgery of checks at B&W Grocery Store. The victim, David Friedrich stated that he has checks that have been forged on September 28, 2009 in his name. This case is pending investigation.

November 16, 2009

While on patrol, Officer Lehmann and Sgt. Ray responded to a disturbance in the 600 block of S. Polk St. Subject identified as Jennifer Marie Ruiz was arrested on a parole warrant.

November 16, 2009

At 11:49 pm Officer Griffin, Sgt. Ray and Officer Lehmann responded to an accident at 1128 W. Columbus St. Driver had left the scene but was located by Deputy Eisley and Deputy Carvin and returned to the scene. The driver was identified as Stephanie R. Saldana and was arrested for DWI.

November 17, 2009

At 2:25 p.m. Officer Shepard initiated a traffic stop in the 700 block of W. Columbus. He made contact with the driver identified as Brandon Schautschick. Officer Shepard then observed a cooler with beer in the bed of the truck. He was given consent to search the vehicle and Brandon advised that there was marijuana in the vehicle. Brandon was cited and released for all offenses.

November 18, 2009

At 6:35 a.m. Officer Spencer was dispatched to 702 W. Cuero in reference to a burglary of a motor vehicle. Carin Sistare reported that the window on her truck was broken out and her GPS system was stolen. The case is currently under investigation.

November 18, 2009

At 1:48 p.m., Officer Spencer and Cpl. Carvin responded to the area of 261 Sunrise in reference to a verbal altercation between Maria Martinez and Charles Hill. Investigation revealed that Hill had grabbed Martinez by the arm. Hill was issued a citation for Assault by Contact (Class C Misd.) and released. Parties were separated.

November 19, 2009

At 2:17 a.m., Officer Griffin initiated a traffic stop at the E. Hempstead/Sandridge intersection. The driver, Byron Lydell Cook of Giddings, was placed under arrest for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Driving While Intoxicated and Driving While License Invalid/Suspended. No other information.

November 19, 2009

At 12:00 pm, Corporal Carvin met with Michael Mitchell at the Giddings Police Department in reference to a hit and run accident that occurred the day before. Mitchell advised that he had parked in the Brookshire Brothers parking lot at approximately 3:20 p.m. , went into the store and returned to his vehicle at approximately 3:35 p.m.. Upon returning to his vehicle, a white 2006 Ford F-150, he observed damage to the left front quarter panel and driver’s side mirror. Cpl. Carvin observed the damage to the vehicle and noticed white paint transfer to the left front quarter panel. Photographs were taken of the damage and Mitchell was provided with a case number and a Driver’s Crash Report. Surveillance cameras were not available in the area of the parking lot where the crash occurred. Case inactive due to lack of leads.

November 19, 2009

At 1:10 p.m., Officer Spencer was dispatched to the Dollar General in reference to a prior theft. Angelica Perez reported that a white female entered the store and stole two candles and candle accessories. Video from the store was obtained as evidence. Case is currently under investigation.

November 19, 2009

At 9:42 p.m. Officer Griffin initiated a traffic stop in the 500 block of S. Caldwell. The driver, Juan Pedro Guerra of Giddings was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated and taken to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, processed and released.

November 21, 2009

At 7:19 a.m, Officer Ramirez was dispatched to the Quick Stop RV Park at 1997 E. Hempstead St in reference to burglary of a motor vehicle. Upon arrival, he met with the complainant, identified as Billy Baker, who stated that someone broke into his truck, a green 2001 Ford pickup truck. The front left driver side window was shattered. There were items thrown around inside the truck, but nothing was noticed missing. Case pending further investigation.

November 21, 2009

At 10:52 a.m. Officer Shepard responded to the Executive Inn for a burglary of a motor vehicle. Upon arrival, he met with the complainant, Murray Craddock, who stated that his vehicle was broken into and a radar detector was stolen from the front windshield. Murray stated that he stays at this motel frequently and this is the second time something has been stolen from his vehicle, but he did not wish to pursue charges.

November 21, 2009

At approximately 5:00 p.m., Officer Ramirez was dispatched to 550 W. Liberty St. #10 in reference to a stolen trampoline. Upon arrival, he spoke with the complainant identified as Wendy Flores who stated that someone stole a trampoline out of her yard. A witness stated that a white male and a white female loaded the trampoline on a trailer and left. Case pending further investigation.
