Report from Lee County Commissioner’s Court

The Commissioner’s Court Meeting on Monday, November 23, 2009, was almost entirely concerned with dealing with routine matters.

During this meeting, the Court received a copy of the preliminary Grant Application for the Courthouse Repairs from the firm of Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. The Application is due to be submitted to the Texas Historical Society on December 1, 2009. There are some items that still need input from the County, and the Commissioners have indicated that these will be provided before that time.

The Court also considered some revisions to the County’s Pauper Burial Policy and adopted these as presented by the County Attorney. Primarily the changes concerned the use of cremation as the preferred method of interment, being more cost effective than burial in a Cemetery plot.

The Commissioners received bids for Gravel and Paving Topping Rock, and agreed that they will study these and award contracts for these at a future meeting.

Because of ongoing issues with the existing Visa credit card for the County, the Commissioners voted to cancel the current Card.
