Giddings Police Report

October 27, 2009

At 10:57 am, Detective Corporal Carvin met with Navinbhai (Nick) Patel at the Police Department in reference to two fictitious checks that were passed at his place of business, Stop N Shop convenience store. The checks displayed a company name of Maldonado Nursery & Landscaping Inc., in San Antonio. Each check amount was greater than $500.00 and displayed a different name on each. The case is active and under investigation.

October 28, 2009

At 8:34 a.m. Officer Ramirez met with a subject identified as Brian Brinegar at the Giddings Police Department in reference to found property. Brinegar stated that he located a tan small dog kennel with a name tag. The kennel was found in the ditch along FM 448 just inside the city limits of Giddings. The kennel was photographed and placed into the property room.

October 29, 2009

At 7:58 am Officer Shepard was dispatched to 395 S. Burleson in reference to a burglary of a vehicle. Upon arrival he spoke with the victim Jason Korb who advised that his truck window had been broken. It was later discovered that Jason was missing miscellaneous items from the truck. Investigation is pending.

October 31, 2009

At 4:13 a.m. Officer Griffin initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation occurring in the 4200 block of E. Austin. The driver, Salvador Hernandez of Del Valle was subsequently placed under arrest for Felony DWI and Driving While License Invalid/ Suspended-Enhanced. He was taken to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, processed and released.

October 31, 2009

At approximately 11:40 p.m. Officer Griffin initiated a traffic stop for a violation occurring in the 100 block of E. Austin. The driver, James Patrick Mitchell, Jr. of Austin was placed under arrest for Driving while License Invalid/ Suspended and No Insurance- 2nd.

November 1, 2009

At 1:48 a.m. Officer Griffin was on routine patrol and observed a vehicle illegally parked in the 900 block of N. Caldwell. There were 3 occupants in the vehicle - 2 were minors (under 21). The minors received citations for Consuming Alcohol and were identified as David Secundo Mireles and Miguel Angel Garcia, both of Giddings. Jesus Ruben Garcia, also of Giddings, was placed under arrest for Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor and taken to the Lee County Sheriff 's Office and released.

November 1, 2009

At 5:09 a.m., Officer Griffin responded to the 400 block of W. Austin, next to the railroad tracks in reference to a Burglary of a Motor Vehicle that had occurred between Friday, 10-23-09 at 4 p.m. and Sunday, 11-1-09 at 5:09 a.m. The complainant Johnny Joe Bosquez of Jourdanton stated his work vehicle belonging to Union Pacific had been broken into and 2 Visa credit cards and 1 gas card had been taken. Both cards belonged to the company.

November 1, 2009

At 5:09 p.m. Detective Corporal Carvin was dispatched to the Dollar General at 2440 E. Austin in reference to two black males sitting in a grey Buick 4-door parked in front of the store. The caller advised that the males were selling pirated DVD's. While enroute to that location dispatch that the vehicle left the parking lot traveling west on Austin St. Cpl. Carvin observed the vehicle in the 1200 block of E. Austin and initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle in the 200 block of N. Orange. She approached the driver's side of the vehicle and identified herself to the driver identified as Leslie Jones. Cpl. Carvin advised the driver the reason he was stopped and asked if he had any DVD's. Jones pointed to the backseat directly behind his seat where Cpl. Carvin observed a green backpack and he stated that he did have DVD's but they were his own personal DVD's. Cpl. Carvin asked Jones if he was selling them and he stated that he was not, he was just showing people the DVD's. Dispatch then advised that Jones' driver's license was suspended for DWLI effective 10/19/09 until 7/ 16/10. Jones was placed under arrest and transported to the Lee County Jail without incident.

November 1, 2009

At 5:03 p.m. a theft was reported by Angelica Zachary, the store manager of the Dollar General store in which items were taken by a female who left before police arrival. Officer Griffin took the theft report and there is no suspect information at this time.

November 1, 2009

At approximately 6:30 p.m. Officer Griffin responded to 497 S. Polk St. (Shade Tree Apts.) in reference to a vehicle being damaged in the parking lot. The victim, Michael Terry Chaney of Giddings, stated he had noticed scratches on his vehicle, which was parked in front of his residence.
