Amanda Ella Drosche
Funeral services for Amanda Drosche, 93, of Lexington, Texas are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at St. James Lutheran Church in Lexington with Rev. Leif Hasskarl officiating. Burial will follow in the St. James Lutheran Cemetery in Lexington. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The Drosche family will be present for visitation Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Mrs. Drosche passed away Sunday evening at the Giddings Healthcare Center in Giddings.
Amanda Ella Kaiser Drosche was born on June 25, 1916 in Fedor, Texas to Carl & Bertha (Exner) Kaiser. She was baptised on July 2, 1916 and confirmed on April 13, 1930 both at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fedor. She was united in marriage to Gussie Oscar Drosche on November 28, 1935 also at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fedor. Mrs. Drosche was a homemaker who also worked hard on the farm. She enjoyed fishing, sewing, quilting, cooking and gardening. She was a longtime member of St. James Lutheran Church in Lexington where she had been a member of the LWML.
Mrs. Drosche was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gussie; grandson, Jason Drosche; three brothers, Edgar, Ludwig & Martin and three sisters, Hedwig Schneider, Emily Herklotz and Alma Biehle.
She is survived by three children, Ruth & Roland Markert of Houston, Frances & William Riske of Houston and Fred & Melba Drosche of Lincoln; 9 grandchildren, Greg & Lori Markert of Giddings, Paula & Carl Berry of Houston, Sandra & Sam Flores of Houston, Katherine & Ronnie Barnfield of Houston, Glenn Riske of Cypress, Janice & Mark Fletcher of Houston, Angela & Ramon Alvarez of Lincoln, Joseph Drosche of Leander and Derek Drosche of Lexington; 10 great grandchildren, Christi & Steve Pitts of Giddings, Kayla Markert of Giddings, Amy Markert of Giddings, Brandon Berry of Houston, Amber Berry of Houston, Danny Flores of Houston, Sam Flores Jr. of Houston, Candace Flores of Houston, Christopher Barnfield of Houston and Nicholas Barnfield of Houston; 2 step grandchildren, Jason & Jordyn
