Giddings Police Report

October 19, 2009

At 9:06 a.m., Officer Shepard received a call of a theft at Oakland Manor located at the 1400 block of N. Main. Upon arrival he met with the victim Rhonda Veall who stated she had a wallet stolen from a locked closet at the rest home. The investigation is pending.

October 20, 2009

At 8:39 p.m. Officer Connolly observed a vehicle with a driver's side headlight out. Upon making contact with the driver, Daniel Hill, it was determined that his driver's license was revoked and he could not provide proof of liability insurance. Mr. Hill was placed under arrest for DWLI-Enhanced.

October 21, 2009

At 9:47 a.m., Officers Spencer and Shepard were dispatched to the Drivers License Office in reference to a subject who had two outstanding warrants. Yne Jackson had two outstanding warrants for Theft by Check. One warrant was from Lee County and the other from Washington County. The warrants were confirmed as active and Jackson was placed under arrest. Shepard transported Jackson to the Lee County Jail without further incident.

October 21, 2009

At approximately 7:22 p.m., Sgt. Ramsey received a call from dispatch in reference to a theft at Dollar General. The caller stated that the female suspect had already left the area at this time. Case under investigation.

October 22, 2009

At 7:00 a.m., Officer Spencer was dispatched to Dr. J's Bar in reference to a reported Burglary. Edward reported that when he entered the business he found that forced entry had been made into the business. The case is under investigation.

October 22, 2009

At approximately 11:30 a.m., Det. Corporal Carvin was notified by dispatch of a theft that had just occurred at Dollar General located at 2440 E. Austin St. The reporting person advised that the suspect was the same female suspect who had shoplifted DVD movies from the store the day before and that she had shoplifted DVD movies on this occasion and left the store without paying. The reporting person advised that the suspect left in a gold colored 4-door Ford sedan and was parked in the Wal Mart parking lot. Cpl. Carvin located the vehicle and approached the driver's side and made contact with the suspect, identified as Margaret Williams. When Cpl. Carvin approached the vehicle she observed a large stack of DVD movies sitting in the front passenger seat and a box cutter sitting in the cup holder. Williams admitted that she had stolen the DVD movies to take to the pawn shop and was going to use the money to buy cigarettes. Williams was placed under arrest and after reviewing her criminal history Cpl. Carvin discovered that she had at least two prior convictions for theft. Williams was charged with theft less than $1500 with two or more prior convictions, a State Jail Felony. Case cleared.

October 22, 2009

At approximately 5:45 p.m. Sgt. Ramsey received a call from dispatch in reference to a burglary at 321 S. Wilson. She arrived and met with John Booth, who reported that someone had entered his property and taken food out of his freezer. There are no suspects at this time.

October 23, 2009

At approximately 1:10 a.m., Sgt Ramsey, while on patrol at the 500 block of E. Austin, observed a red fire hydrant lying over on the sidewalk. There was no water coming from the hydrant. It appeared that a vehicle had struck the hydrant and left the scene.

At 8:48 a.m. Officer Shepard received a call of a hit and run located at 1865 E. Austin at the Taqueria Chihuahua. He spoke with the complainant and Meghan Jenke and completed a crash report. He later spoke with the driver of the other vehicle, Joseph Adam Gonzales. There is an investigation pending in this case.

October 23, 2009

At 10:33 p.m., Officer Griffin was on routine patrol and clocked a vehicle traveling at a rate of 103 mph in a 55 mph zone in approximately the 4200 block of E. Austin. The vehicle was westbound and illegally passed another vehicle in the center lane. The vehicle was stopped and 2 children under the age of 5 years were inside. The driver, James Alan Eldridge of Austin, was placed under arrest for Endangering a Child and Reckles Driving and taken to the Lee County Sheriff's Office and released. The front passenger, Timothy Lee Gallion, Jr. of Cedar Park was cited for having an Open Container in a vehicle and released. No other information.

October 24, 2009 At 3:22 a.m. Officer Griffin responded to 2098-D FM 2440 in reference to a Burglary of a Residence call-for-service. The resident, Dwayne Franklin Colley of Giddings, stated a 50" HD TV had been stolen from the residence while he was gone. No other information.

24, 2009

At 5:41 a.m. Officers Connolly and Griffin were dispatched to the Executive Inn in reference to a burglary of a vehicle. Numerous items ranging from $7000 were reported stolen from the vehicle. The case is under investigation.

October 24, 2009

At 8:26 p.m. Officer Connolly was dispatched to the 900 block of N. Titus in reference to an assault. Officer Connolly made contact with the victim who was reportedly struck in the face by a male suspect. All parties involved have been identified and the case is under investigation.

October 25, 2009

At 12:13 a.m. Officer Connolly conducted a traffic stop on a speeding motorist. Officer Connolly made contact with the driver, Aurelio Moctezuma. Officer Connolly detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his breath. After SFST exams were performed, Officer Connolly determined the driver to be intoxicated and was placed under arrest for DWI 2nd and for DWLI.

October 25, 2009

At 9:49 p.m., Officer Connolly and Ray were dispatched to the 800 block of N. Grimes in reference to an assault that had occurred. Upon arrival, the officers spoke to the victim who advised that her roommate had choked her and beat on her. Officers did observe minor injuries on the victim. This case is under investigation.
