Holiday by the Tracks in Elgin

Families Make Memories in Historic Downtown Elgin

Holiday By the Tracks brings a fun family holiday celebration to Elgin. You can enjoy famous Lopez Burgers while your kids make amazing mudmen, pressed metal ornaments, and other unique crafts. Enjoy a hassle free moment with Santa and share your wish list for the year! Celebrate the Magic of Christmas with the Union Depot Museum exhibit of vintage toys, cultural Christmas trees and Nativities. A delightful model train display will be on exhibit in the Elgin Chamber of Commerce. Bring the whole family out during the holiday season where you can cut your own tree at one of our Christmas tree farms and enjoy a variety of art, crafts, shopping and holiday fun in Historic Downtown Elgin. Free admission!!

On Saturday, December 5, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. join us downtown for live music and entertainment, holiday store specials, beautiful window displays, pictures with Santa, the Artists Showcase, a Christmas Craft Fair, the EVFD lighted Christmas parade and a live nativity. The Artists Showcase will include demonstrations, sales, displays and studio tours for a variety of artistic mediums. Pictures with Santa will be sponsored by Friends of Elgin Parks. Children's activities, such as make your own ornaments (Free), pony rides, a petting zoo and famous Lopez Burgers will be offered in Veterans Memorial Park. A Christmas Craft Fair and Gingerbread House display will be hosted at the Elgin Public Library from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Downtown stores will offer holiday specials and will be open late and so much more.
