Lower Student Enrollment Hard on LISD Budget
The Lexington I.S.D. Board of Trustees held their regular meeting on Monday, October 19. In the Superintendant's report, Dr. Chuck Holt reviewed the 2009- 2010 budget following the end of the first six weeks. A representative from the US Census Bureau and members of a creative team from New York City were in Lexington last Wednesday to shoot a video and take still shots of Kerry Bexley and Tootsie Tomanetz with Snow's BBQ. Giddings Man Gets Concurrent Sentences
On October 20, 2009, during the 21st Judicial District Court of Lee County, with the Honorable Terry Flenniken presiding, Kenneth Jobbor Simpson, 31, of Giddings was sentenced for charges steming from an 11+ hour manhunt. He was charged with Burglary of a Habitation-Assault, Repeat Felony Offender and Aggravated Kidnapping. Full Story

Lexington Elementary Celebrates Bus Safety Week
In observance of National Bus Safety Week, Lexington Elementary staff and students honored the bus drivers this past week. Students made cards and colored pictures to give to the bus drivers to show how much they are appreciated. Special bus cookies were also made for each driver to enjoy. Full Story

When discussing deer diets, many people do not realize what deer actually eat. For the most part deer eat forbs (weeds), browse, and mast (acorns and other fruits). 'Browse' consists of stems and leaves of woody plants. Contrary to most thinking, seldom do deer eat grass. Full Story

Middle School Football Report
7th Grade- The first win of the year came Thursday night against Florence 30-14. The youngsters are getting better each week. The team played together both offensively and defensively. Lexington took an 8-0 lead when Andrew Lane caught a 48-yard scoring pass from W.E. Meuth. Bradley Campbell then caught a pass from Meuth for the PAT. Full Story
Sports Thoughts
The Eagles had things fall right for them Friday night. With Salado beating Academy 20-13, it all but assured Lexington of being in the playoffs this season. An interesting note is that if Rogers would lose to Academy and Salado, they would not make the post season. In Texas high school football, anything is possible. Full Story
Jr. V Falls to Florence 29-0
Lexington passed for 187 yards but no touchdowns came their way. Jason Washington passed for all the yardage. Todd Glass with two receptions for 60-yards, Colin Wiggins with three for 60, Zach Lay three for 48, and Logan Meuth with three for 19 yards were the recipients of the aerials. Full Story
Lady Eagles Have no Cure for LV
The District 25-AA leading Lago Vista Lady Vikings sank the Lady Eagles in three games Tuesday night. The volleyball game was the centerpiece of the "Volley for the Cure" night sponsored by Lexington, who received great cooperation from Lago Vista. Leona Bland was born June 24, 1919 in the Bushdale Community of Milam County one of eight children born to Fritz W. and Leona Selma Flisch Gest.
