Nina Faye Avrett
Nina Faye Avrett was born October 27, 1946 in Cameron, Texas to George Truitt "Nat" and Dera Pierce Mathis Bankston. She was a graduate of Milano High School. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma while attending college at Southwest Texas in San Marcos.
On August 22, 1969, she and Darwin Avrett were married in the First Baptist Church in Milano with Rev. Doug Springer officiating.
Nina was a school teacher. She taught 7 years in Rockdale, 22 years in Milano and the past two years with MARC Center in Rockdale. Nina was an Elder and active member of First Christian Church in Rockdale where she was a member of the choir, Chairman of Church and Society Committee and a teacher for the adult Sunday school. She was a member of Retired Teachers Association and Rockdale Community Players.
Nina passed away Thursday, October 15, 2009 in Milano reaching the age of 62. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Natalie Avrett on April 9, 1988, her parents and a sister, Robbie Bishop on July 15, 2000.
Nina is survived by her husband of 40 years; Darwin Avrett of Milano. Son, Cody Avrett and wife Kaycee of Rockdale. Grandsons, Tyler and Weston Avrett and a third grandson expected in December. Brothers, George Bankston and wife Joyce of Milano and Rusty Bankston of Rockdale. Mother-in-law; Iola Avrett of Rockdale. Five nephews, five nieces, and seven great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Sunday, October 18, 2009 at First Christian Church in Rockdale, burial was in the Oak Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Earl Presley and Rev. Doug Springer officiating.
