Lee / Burleson Pecan Show and Pecan Bake Show

The 2009 Lee /Burleson Pecan Show will be conducted Monday, November 23, in the Lee County Extension office located at 310 South Grimes, Giddings. Lee County pecan entries are due to the Lee County Extension office by 10:00 am on Monday, November 23. Processing and judging will follow.

An entry should consist of at least 40 nuts (42 preferred) of the same variety produced in 2009 by the grower/exhibitor. Entries containing a mixed sample will be disqualified. Entries should be submitted in pecan bags or paper sacks and should indicate the variety name as well as the exhibitor' s name and address. Entries not advancing to the Regional Pecan Show will be sold to pay show expenses. The 2009 Lee/ Burleson Pecan Bake Show will be conducted on Tuesday, November 24,in the Lee County Extension office located at 310 South Grimes, Giddings. Entries are due to the Lee County Extension office by 9:00 am on Tuesday, November 24. Judging will begin at 9:30 am. The Pecan Bake Show has two age divisions (YOUTH-18 & under and ADULT-19 & over) with six classes per division: Pies, Cakes, Cookies, Candies, Breads and Miscellaneous. Entries in the cookies and candies classes need eight pieces. The recipe must contain pecans and the recipe must accompany the official entry. Participants may enter up to two recipes in each class. All bake show entries will be sold to pay show expenses.

The main purpose of conducting the Pecan Show and Pecan Bake Show is to allow pecan growers the opportunity to exhibit their products and educate the public about varying pecan qualities and selection processes. Participation in the Lee/ Burleson Pecan Show is free and open to all residents of Lee or Burleson Counties, as well as residents of adjoining counties that do not conduct such an event.
