4-H News

Food Show Project Meeting

October 25

There will be a Lee County 4-H Food Show Project on Sunday, October 25, at 2 pm in the Extension office in Giddings. All youth are invited. The Food Challenge competition will be introduced. Participating 4-H'ers will compete in the County Food Show, scheduled for Sunday, December 13. Qualifying participants will then advance to the District Food Show.

Pecan Sale - Poinsettia Sale

Helping prepare the community for the approaching Holiday Season, The Lee County 4-H is taking orders for fresh Pecans and beautiful Poinsettia plants. Orders may be placed with any Lee County 4-H member or by contacting the Extension Office.

Pecan orders are due to the Extension office by Thursday, October 29. Poinsettia orders are due on Monday, December 9.

Pecan Bake Show

November 24

4-H'ers are reminded of the Lee/Burleson County Pecan Bake Show on Tuesday, November 24. Lee County youth, ages 18 and under, are welcome to enter two recipes in each class. Classes include: breads, cakes, candies, cookies, pies and miscellaneous. Rules and entry forms are available from the Extension office.

PVA/4-H Council Meetings

December 7

The Parent Volunteer Association and 4-H Council will meet on Monday, December 7, at 7 pm in the Extension office. Members of the Lee County 4-H program and their families are invited to attend the meeting. Please call the Extension office if you have any questions or would like to propose an item to be added to the agenda.

Southern Classic

December 12 & 13

On December 12 & 13, the Lee County Extension office, along with other area county Extension personnel, will host the Southern Classic Youth

Livestock Projet Experience.

This event is an educational livestock clinic and show. It will be held in Bryan at the Brazos County Exposition Complex, located at 5827 Leonard Road, just off Hwy 47. The event is open to all 4-H and FFA members. Its purpose is to educate and assist youth that are raising livestock show projects, and to help them learn more about their project and be better prepared for the upcoming show season.

There are no entry fees associated with the program. It is free for youth and their families to attend and exhibit their projects. Please RSVP by November 30 to the Extension office with your intent to attend and the type of animal you will exhibit.

In order to participate in the Sunday competition, exhibitors must attend the Saturday presentation. Sunday competition exhibitors will each receive an item useful to their project.
