On October 8, 2009, members of the Lexington Garden Club gathered on the the Square at 9:00 a.m. for a field trip to visit Washington-on-the-Brazos.

Tour guides dressed in costumes of the early Texas era gave an interesting summary of the history and how people lived during that time. They talked of the kind of vegetables grown and the way animals were raised to feed the farmers and their families. It was very interesting to hear as opposed to life today.

Right down the road, members toured the Republic of Texas Museum. A twenty minute movie was shown about Texas history and its great heroes.

Lunch was eaten at the Brenham Air Port and enjoyed by all.

Fall is a busy time for the Club members.

On November 12th, 2009, members will again leave from the Square at 8:30 a.m. for a field trip to Mike and Linda Wright's Organic Farm and Ranch Place. Co-hostesses for this trip are Virginia Causey, Nancy Ross, and Wanda Townsend. Be sure to bring lawn chairs.

November 19th at 9:00 a.m., members will meet at St. James Parish Hall to make Thanksgiving baskets.

Each member is asked to bring two dozen cookies.
