Juanita Mae Maxfield
Funeral services for Juanita Maxfield, 50 of Giddings, were held on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at New Corinth Missionary Baptist Church in Giddings with Rev. Richard Washington officiating. Burial followed in the Antioch Cemetery in Dime Box.
Ms. Maxfield passed away Wednesday morning in Austin following a battle with cancer.
Juanita Mae Maxfield was born on April 1, 1959 in Giddings to Elmo & Tonsetta (Maxfield) Irvin. She graduated from Dime Box High School where she excelled in basketball.
Juanita was a Certified Nurses Aid at nursing homes in Giddings and Caldwell, being most recently employed at Oakland Manor Nursing Center in Giddings. She was an active member of Goodwill Baptist Church in Dime Box where she served as an usher and on the Food Committee.
Juanita also enjoyed trail riding and loved to be around people. She knew no strangers.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Tonsetta Irvin; two brothers, Michael Irvin and her twin brother, Juan Maxfield and two sisters, Barbara Sanders and Helen Brown.
Juanita is survived by her father, Elmo Irvin Sr. of Dime Box; two sisters, Annie & Herbert Coleman of Austin and Linda & Ira Reed of Austin; four brothers, Holman & Frankie Thompson of Giddings, Kevin & Shelia Irvin of Giddings, Donal & Opal Irvin of Dime Box and Elmo & Sallie Irvin Jr. of Dime Box as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
