Sheriff 's Report

September 28, 2009

A motorist reported that she was traveling eastbound on Hwy 290 near Paige and an 18 wheeler nearly ran her off the road. She was behind the vehicle with her flashers on. Deputy Easley was given the call and he stopped the 18 wheeler at the city limits on Hwy 290 West.

Deputies will be close patrolling CR 324 in Fedor after receiving two reports of mailbox damage on two Friday nights in a row. PVC pipe was located at the scene and taken as evidence. Investigation continues.

Deputy York and Deputy Durrenberger were dispatched to Westwood Villa Apartments after receiving a call that a female was in one of the apartments and she was not supposed to be on the property. The subject was located and removed from the property. A criminal trespass warning was filed by the complainant.

September 29, 2009

The Sheriff's Office received a residential burglar alarm on FM 696. The home owner called and reported that he was at work but his wife was home and heard glass breakage and she locked herself in the bedroom. Deputy Crockett responded and checked the residence. Everything was secure. It was determined that the house may have rattled due to the thunder, therefore breaking the window.

A motorist reported that he passed two dually trucks that were hauling hay and the lead truck has a back tire that is smoking. Deputy Crockett was dispatched and attempted to locate the vehicles.

Deputy Durrenberger received information that a light colored truck was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Hwy 290. The vehicle was last seen approx five miles east of Giddings.

Deputy Aderhold put up a tan and white cow that was out on FM 696 West approx ½ mile east of CR 304.

A caller reported two horses on the roadway on CR 213 at approx the 2700 block. Deputy Durrenberger was dispatched.

September 30, 2009

A black calf was reported out in the middle of the road on FM 696 @ CR 309. Deputy Durrenberger responded to the call.

Deputy Lapham was dispatched to a residence on PR 1071 after an alarm company advised that one of their customers set off his alarm. The deputy reported back and advised dispatch that the man had fallen but his nephew showed up and assisted him. The alarm was reset.

Brenham communications reported that they had received a call from an elderly woman that lives on FM 180. They did not understand if she needed medical attention or law enforcement. Deputy York and B&M ambulance were dispatched. Everything was okay.

Deputy York responded to a disturbance call at 3-D Transport on FM 448. The complainant advised that he was having problems with two employees. The situation was resolved.

A caller reported that juvenile son ran into the house screaming that he was in pain. B&M ambulance was dispatched. Deputy Carvin assisted on the call. The child was transported to the hospital.

October 1, 2009

Deputy Lapham transported an inmate from TDCJ to District Court. After District Court the inmate was taken back to Navasota.

A mobile caller reported cows out on the road on FM 696 and CR 305. Deputy Carvin located the cows and ran them back into a pasture.

Deputy Durrenberger spoke to a complainant who wanted to file charges on her ex-boyfriend because he took a horse she bought two weeks ago and sold it without her permission. A report was taken and charges are pending.

A resident reported a reckless driver on FM 448. The caller advised that the vehicle passed her and then came to a complete stop and then took off on CR 213. The vehicle then pulled into her driveway. The caller blocked the vehicle until Deputy Carvin, Deputy Durrenberger and Trooper Thorp arrived.

October 2, 2009

Deputy York and Deputy Lapham were dispatched to Hwy 290 West to meet with a complainant regarding her step son. She advised he has anger management problems and is threatening to harm himself. MHMR was called to the Sheriff's Office to evaluate him.

Deputy Crockett and Deputy Lapham assisted with a funeral escort from Martin Luther to the main entrance at the Giddings City Cemetery.

The Sheriff's Office received a request for a deputy to meet her on CR 309 where she is going to pick up her children. Deputy Carvin assisted her.

A motorist reported an abandoned vehicle on FM 112 at the Lee and Milam County line. Deputy Easley checked on it and advised dispatch that it was completely off the roadway and in Milam County.

Deputy Easley was dispatched to check on a suspicious vehicle parked in a driveway on Hwy 77 North. The vehicle had left prior to arrival.

A motorist reported a tire in the eastbound lane of FM 2440 approx ½ mile past the new park. Deputy Carvin was dispatched and removed the tire.

A resident reported that she had received a call stating that there was a party at her property in Manheim. She is on her way and they have had problems in the past. No one is allowed on the property. Deputy Easley, Deputy York and Deputy Carvin checked the property and no one was there. The gate was still locked and everything was secure.

October 3, 2009

Deputy Lapham transported one inmate from TDCJ to District Court. The inmate was then transported back to TDCJ after court.

Deputy Carvin and Deputy Easley assisted Lexington Police after a Lexington officer radioed in and reported that a vehicle was not stopping for him. They were heading west on Hwy 21. The Lexington unit advised that the vehicle ran off the highway and went through a fence. Two white males jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot. Both subjects were apprehended.

A caller reported that his father was intoxicated and trying to start a fight with everyone in the house. Deputy Easley and Deputy Carvin were dispatched.

A motorist called in and reported that two horses were out on FM 141. Deputy Crockett was dispatched

A resident on CR 323 requested to file a report because his mailbox had been damaged. Deputy Lapham met with the complainant and report was filed

Deputy Carvin was dispatched to CR 118 to check on two subjects that were walking down the road towards town. The subjects were located and the deputy advised they were taking a walk.

October 4, 2009 Deputy Lapham spoke to a complainant on CR 205. He reported that his mailbox had been damaged and was pulled out and on the ground.

A resident on CR 329 reported that several mailboxes were damaged and pulled out. Deputy Crockett was dispatched. Investigation continues.

A motorist reported that a cow was out on CR 216 @ PR 2161. Deputy Lapham put the cow up and closed the gate.

Deputy Crockett assisted with traffic control at the scene of an accident on Hwy 290 East @ Advanced Hydrocarbon.

Several 9-1-1 callers reported a one vehicle accident on Hwy 21 @ CR 440. Deputy Lapham assisted with traffic control until the scene was clear.

Deputy Crockett was dispatched to an accident on Hwy 21 West @ the Manheim Store. A motorist reported that a silver car ran off the road and into the ditch.

The Sheriff's Office received a fire alarm and a medical alarm at a residence on FM 141. Deputy Carvin and B&M ambulance were dispatched.

Deputy Easley was dispatched to a stranded motorist on Hwy 77 North in Tanglewood. A caller reported that he was flagged down and told that an elderly lady needed some assistance.
